Our client produces Specialty Additives for the Performance Materials Division (PMD) used as additives in the coatings, inks, and adhesives industries throughout the world. The successful candidate will champion productivity improvements, support Calvert City plant operations, and implement systems to continuously improve and sustain world class performance. The proven performer will have the opportunity for increased technical scope and/or advancement into management within 2-3 years.
Our client
has traditional chemical unit equipment such as pumps, grinders, conveyors, packed columns, heat exchangers, and CSTRs. Utilities supplied include steam, electricity, nitrogen, air, and water.
Primary Responsibilities:
1) Identify and implement productivity improvement opportunities that benefit the cost and sustainability of the Calvert operation. Areas of cost reduction will include yields, energy, and process reliability. Heavy emphasis on throughput and on-stream improvement.
2) Develop, implement, and sustain systems that ensure that plant operates within defined control limits.
3) Champion the follow-up and corrective action on non-conformances. Relentless focus on identification and implementation of high value corrective actions that eliminate waste.
4) Execute safety and productivity projects, from concept to completion. This includes scope development, justification, approval, hazard review, construction , management of change, training, startup, and optimization.
5) Provide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve operating and reliability problems.
Experience/Skills Required:
1) Prior hands-on experience working within a operating plant. Proficiency in all elements of PSM is an essential requirement.
2) Track record of process improvement and cost reduction. Experience in delivering creative, low capital improvements is a must.
3) Ability to work and successfully interact with all levels of the organization, including union operators, craftspeople, engineers, supervisors, and support resources within Global Operations.
4) Demonstrated capability and desire to grow by serving in multiple capacities within the site, while maintaining primary responsibilities as production engineer. Temporary roles may include shift foreman, on-call supervisor, process engineer, project manager, and area superintendent.
Qualifications: - B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering - 7 or more years of chemical plant engineering experience - Knowledge of unit operations involving reaction, distillation, and heat exchange
