Software Engineer for Test Data Acquisition
Overview:
Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA), located in Hampton, Virginia, is currently seeking a software developer/engineer to support design, development, documentation, and maintenance of data acquisition, reduction, and processing software in support of the NASA aeronautics research. The successful applicant will become a member of an innovative technical team in the Flight Dynamics Branch at the NASA Langley Research Center.
Description:
AMA supports NASA with expertise in software development for data acquisition systems in aerospace applications and in development of methods for reduction and processing of test data. The successful applicant for this position will support and maintain existing data acquisition software, perform design, development, integration, and testing of cross-platform software applications, and collaborate with researchers on the requirements and validation of the software.
This is an on-site position at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong programming expertise in a scientific or engineering field.
2+ years of experience with C/C++, MATLAB, and/or LabView
Experience with data acquisitions systems and hardware interfaces
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting progress and documenting system architecture.
Ability to successfully complete a background investigation to obtain a NASA badge
US citizenship or permanent residency
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with wind tunnel testing, aerospace terminology
Experience with NASA software development processes, software development life cycle management, and version control
Familiarity with NiLab
Ability to understand technical data sets and interface with standard data management tools (spreadsheets, scripting, etc.)
Proficiency in Python
Proficiency with software design patterns, algorithms, and performance optimization
Scripting on Linux (Bash) and Windows (PowerShell)
